TMA Data Management
Power through data
Repositioning a specialist energy data and technology business for the next phase of market change.
TMA is a specialist energy data and technology business operating in the UK energy market. Founded in 1987, the company works with energy suppliers, third party intermediaries and energy consultants to connect, manage, validate and assure data from the meter through to the customer’s bill.
Its services support settlement performance, compliance, operational efficiency and Market-wide half-hourly settlement readiness.
Partnering with Velo transformed our marketing approach. Velo’s dedication to excellence and growth aligns with our objectives, making them an invaluable partner in our journey towards success.
RK, MD, TMA
TMA had deep expertise, strong customer relationships and a critical role in the energy market, but its brand was under-recognised beyond a relatively small circle of industry insiders.
Much of its reputation sat in individual relationships rather than in the TMA brand itself. As the business looked to grow, launch new propositions and enter adjacent markets, it needed a clearer, more memorable company-wide story.
At the same time, Market-wide half-hourly settlement, smart metering and wider energy transition pressures were reshaping the market. Suppliers needed trusted partners who could help modernise systems, manage risk and maintain operational performance.
TMA needed a brand that matched its technical authority, commercial ambition and future role in the GB energy market.
The brand transformation delivered measurable commercial impact.

Strategy
The strategy was built by reversing the traditional brand-building model.
Rather than starting with a broad market message, the work began with individual account insight. Suppliers were profiled using market indicators, Elexon data and existing customer knowledge to identify operational pressures, MHHS readiness and areas where TMA could create the greatest value.
Those insights were then aggregated to shape the wider market proposition.
The campaign reframed TMA from a generic data services provider into a strategic assurance partner: helping suppliers improve performance, reduce risk, prepare for change and create more value from the data flowing through the GB energy system.
This led to the central brand idea: Power through data.
Alongside this, Total Market Assurance was developed as a behavioural motto and differentiator, helping define not only what TMA does, but how it behaves.
Creative
The creative strategy was about helping TMA show up with confidence.
The campaign centred on the proposition Power through data, capturing TMA’s role in helping customers reduce risk, improve performance and navigate market change.
Messaging was built around three strategic pillars:
- Ready for change — showing how TMA helps suppliers prepare for regulation, MHHS, smart metering, increased data volumes and future market change.
- Don’t settle for less — positioning TMA as a service-led partner focused on better performance, stronger accuracy, operational control and customer confidence.
- Energy market specialists — reinforcing TMA’s heritage, technical expertise, Elexon-qualified credibility and long-standing role in supporting leading energy suppliers.
The visual identity used fluid data motion to express movement, connectivity and the flow of information across the energy market. Circular motifs, data flow lines and a vibrant colour palette created a system that felt dynamic, confident and distinctive, while remaining credible for a regulated B2B audience.
“Velo helped us turn decades of technical expertise into a brand that feels clear, confident and ready for the future. They understood the complexity of our market, and how to make our message sharper, simpler and more impactful. The result is a brand platform that reflects who TMA really is – trusted, innovative and committed to helping the UK energy market move forward with confidence.”
